A lawyer tested Jesus, asking “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life” (Lk 10:25)?

Although insincere, it was a great question. We all want eternal life!

Jesus queried, “How does it read to you” (Lk 10:26)?

The lawyer nailed it. He answered, “LOVE THE LORD with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Love your neighbor as yourself” (Lk 10:27).

The Lord responded with an amazing promise, “DO THIS AND LIVE” (Lk 10:28)!

Jesus was, in effect, saying LOVE IS THE KEY TO LIFE.

Life expands as we fall in love with the Lord. We gain more life by loving those around us.

Jesus taught, “Do to others what you would have them do to you” (Lk 6:31).

We're further instructed by the Samaritan’s love for a wounded man (Lk 10:29-37). We have to ask, “Would I have shown the same love?”

Beyond this is the question, “Am I loving the Lord with all of my being?”

It's a choice. Resist self-centeredness.

Radically love the Lord! And others!
